An insider told Us Weekly that the family, “and particularly Prince Harry — are doing their best to cope following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.”
According to the source, “The royals knew Elizabeth’s end was near, but mentally, she was as sharp as ever right until it was her time to go. All of the royals are struggling to come to terms with the devastating news.”

The outlet reports that Harry the Duke of Sussex, “is especially upset that he didn’t arrive in Scotland until after his grandmother had already died on Thursday, September 8. The BetterUp CIO and his wife, Meghan Markle, had been in London, where they were meant to attend the WellChild Awards. The Suits alum, 41, stayed behind as her husband traveled to Balmoral Castle, but Buckingham Palace announced the queen’s death before he arrived.”
Royal Family News – Prince Harry Was Too Late
The insider told Us that consequently, “Harry is guilt-stricken — full of sorrow and regret about not saying goodbye to the queen. They met up a couple of times during the Platinum Jubilee, but he by no means expected it to be the last time he saw her.”
Harry was in Europe purely by chance, in order to attend three business engagements. It was reported prior to the queen’s death that she had invited him and Meghan to visit with her at Balmoral but they turned her down. Apparently his father, now King Charles, also asked them to stay with him, and they refused. Tensions between the couple and his family have made headlines since their 2020 exit from the monarchy in a move known as Megxit.
