Royal Family News – Entitlement Doesn’t Come with Guarantees

Royal Family news reveals that, despite some recent confusion about how King Charles III would handle the prince and princess titles of Harry and Meghan Markle’s children in the wake of the Queen’s death, at least one royal author seems to think they will get the title.

As readers know, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children, Archie and Lillibet have been entitled to these new titles since the moment of their great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II’s death on September 8 when their grandfather, then-Prince Charles, ascended the throne to become King Charles III.

However, the pair of young royals are still listed in the line of succession as Master Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and Miss Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor – officially.

Titles Matter to King Charles III

According to recent rumors, the confusion is because King Charles III is awaiting the release of the Sussex’s various media projects before making a decision about Archie and Lillibet’s titles. According to Express UK, royal author Katie Nicholl is suggesting that it is possible that the King will indeed confer the titles to his grandchildren.

“But if that did happen, it is going to come with a caveat,” Nicholl said on the Palace Confidential podcast, adding, “He is going to insist that Harry and Meghan are respectful of the institution if they are taking the titles of the institution. That is very important to him.”

Though it wasn’t necessarily clear just exactly what “respect” would mean in practice, it’s likely she means that it would entail the Sussex’s revealing no more details that could bring harm or embarrassment to the Royal Family.

“Titles matter to Charles,” Nicholl said.

King Charles – May take Queue from Danish Queen

Nicholl also explained that experts that she had interviewed saw “this pattern of the British monarchy moving into sort of a European-style royalty.” Using the Danish Royal Family as an example, the equivalent people to Archie and Lillibet in the Danish line of succession have recently been stripped of the prince and princess titles by Danish Queen Margrethe, so it is likely that Charles has a similar idea in mind.

Addressing that possibility, Nicholl said, “And if that is the case, then possibly [Archie and Lili are] not going to get these titles.” Be sure and stay up to speed on this and all royally related stories. Return here often for more Royal family news and updates.
