British royal family news teases that are inconsistencies in Prince Harry’s memoir Spare. In other words, experts prove that, “recollections may differ.” Potty mouthed Harry makes some sensational claims but some experts have put his words to the test—showing that all that glitters, in this case Harry’s tarnished tiara—are not gold.
Hapless Harry warns readers: “my memory is my memory, it does what it does, gathers and curates what it sees fit, and there’s just as much truth in what I remember and how I remember it as there is in so-called objective facts.” Wow, he should be selling cars not books. Here are the times The Daily Mail’s Guy Adams and Richard Kay show Harry is than objective in Spare:
Royal Family News – Charles’s Reaction To Birth
Prince Harry claims that his dad told his mom, Princess Diana, on the day of his birth in 1984: “Wonderful! Now you’ve given me an heir and a spare — my work is done,” then left to meet his mistress. Well, Diana tells a different story in her book Diana: Her True Story. She has Charles saying, “Oh, it’s a boy and he’s even got rusty hair.” In fact, it was two years before Charles reignited his affair with Camilla Parker Bowles.
Harry also mentions Diana’s Paris car crash: “the last thing Mummy saw on this Earth was a flashbulb and her last sound would be a click.” Nope. The outlet reports that paramedics, “spoke to a conscious Diana for some time at the scene before she was transferred by ambulance to the city’s Pitie-Salpetriere hospital, where she died.”
Royal Family News – Stepmonster Camilla
Harry’s descriptions of stepmom Camilla also vary considerably. He claims she leaked details of their private meetings but on at least one occasion, June 12, 1998, the info was leaked by Camilla’s own private secretary, Amanda MacManus.
Royal Family News – Death Of The Queen Mother
Harry also gets the facts of learning about the death of the 101-year-old Queen Mother in a telephone call while at Eton: “I wish I could remember whose voice was at the other end; a courtier’s, I believe. I recall that it was just before Easter, the weather bright and warm, light slanting through my window, filled with vivid colours.” Except that school was not in session due to Easter holidays.
Tell us royal fans, are these just innocent examples of fuzzy thinking, or blatant fabrications?
