The Duke of Edinburgh tweeted, “I commend all teachers and school staff for your resolute commitment throughout the year to teaching our children and young people in the most challenging conditions. As Patron of the Chartered College of Teaching, I wish to thank you all for your selfless dedication and send you my best wishes for a well-deserved break over Christmas and the New Year.”

The twitterverse lit up immediately afterward with many others echoing Philip’s sentiment. One person tweeted: “We are in this together thank you so much it means so much to us that work in a school. Merry Christmas,” and many simply thanked the prince for his recognition.

The Duke Of Edinburgh Came Out Of Retirement To Recognize Hardworking UK Teachers

Philip retired from his Royal duties on August 2, 2017, at the age of 96. Throughout his years of service he completed over 20,000 solo engagements and is considered one of the hardest working royals.

Through the years Philip has soldiered on despite any obstacles in his path. Just weeks after undergoing a hip replacement surgery, he attended the wedding of his grandson Prince Harry to Meghan Markle. The couple now reside in California having decided that royal life wasn’t for them.

Has Prince Philip Had A Hard Time Understanding Prince Harry’s Actions?

It’s been reported that Philip had great difficulty wrapping his mind around Harry’s decision to ditch the monarchy. Philip has devoted his life to the crown, even giving up his own promising naval career to support the monarchy.

Still, Philip’s life has not been without controversy. Last year Philip was involved in a car accident while driving himself near the Sandringham Estate, and the driver and the passenger of the other vehicle were injured.

Weeks later he voluntarily surrendered his driving license and subsequently the Crown Prosecution Service declined to prosecute him in the matter.

Prince Philip and the Queen are now in isolation at Windsor Castle. Just before Christmas last year he was seen leaving King Edward VII’s Hospital and it was revealed he received treatment for a “pre-existing condition.”

Nonetheless, it is clear that Philip has no intention of slowing down despite his official retirement, as his latest act of recognition shows.

He's amazing, never stops. The other two should take a lesson but they probably think he is a fool. Wait till they get older they may have regrets.
