Royal Family News: Prince Philip Duke Of Edinburgh Rushed To London’s King Edward VII Hospital

British royal family news reveals that Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh has been admitted to the hospital after complaints of general unease according to Buckingham Palace.

His illness is not Covid-related and it is understood the decision to admit him was taken with an ‘abundance’ of caution.

Prince Philip, 99, was admitted last night to the private King Edward VII Hospital in Marylebone, London, as a ‘precautionary measure’ and he is expected to remain there for a few days for observation.

Royal Family News – Prince Philip Is In The Hospital

Despite the concerning news, Philip is said to be in ‘good spirits’ and walked into the hospital unaided. The Queen, 94, remained behind at Windsor Castle.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement, ‘His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to the King Edward VII Hospital in London, on Tuesday evening. The Duke’s admission is a precautionary measure, on the advice of His Royal Highness’s Doctor, after feeling unwell. The Duke is expected to remain in hospital for a few days of observation and rest.’

Royal Family News – Prince Philip Is 99 Years Old

Police officers were on guard outside the private London hospital where Philip, who turns 100 on June 10, is being treated.

Philip’s admission is not considered to be an emergency and his son Prince Charles and his wife Camilla continued on with performing a royal event, meeting volunteers in clinical vaccine trials in Birmingham.

In January it was announced that both Philip and the Queen had received the coronavirus vaccine, as their age puts them in the high-risk category.

Philip and the queen have been in lockdown at Windsor and did not have the traditional royal family gathering at Sandringham. Instead they had a quiet Christmas at the Berkshire residence, with no family present.

The last photograph of Philip was in November, when the Palace released pictures of him and the queen looking at a homemade wedding anniversary card. It was made by great-grandchildren Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Philip spent four nights at King Edward Hospital in December 2019, where he was treated for a ‘pre-existing condition’. He has suffered a number of ailments over the years, including being treated for a blocked coronary artery in December 2011 and a bladder infection in June 2012, forcing him to miss the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations. He had exploratory surgery on his abdomen in June 2013 and he began to use hearing aids by 2014, aged 93.
