Prince Philip, 99, was first treated at King Edward VII’s hospital in central London on February 16 after complaints of not feeling well. The exact reason for his initial admission was not disclosed, but at the time the Palace said it was not related to coronavirus.
During his stay at King Edward VII’s, the duke was visited by his son Prince Charles.

He later was transferred to another London hospital, St. Bartholomew’s, where he underwent a successful procedure for a pre-existing heart condition. Philip is now home at Windsor Castle after a 28-night stay. He had been in and out of the hospital in recent years but this was his longest in recent memory.
Buckingham Palace issued a statement on Tuesday when the duke was discharged, “following treatment for an infection and a successful procedure for a pre-existing condition.”
The statement said, “His Royal Highness wishes to thank all the medical staff who looked after him … and everyone who has sent their good wishes.”

The spokesman for Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he, “continues to wish Prince Phillip a speedy recovery,” adding the PM was “of course” pleased to see the duke return to Windsor.
Both Prince Philip and his wife Queen Elizabeth, 94, have spent the third and most-recent lockdown in England at the Berkshire residence with a small group of household staff, which have been nicknamed HMS Bubble. The couple have been married for 73 years.

The duke retired from royal duties in 2017. He received treatment for a bladder infection in 2012 and had exploratory surgery on his abdomen in June 2013.
Members of the Royal Family continued with their official duties while the duke was in the hospital.
Prince Philip’s hospital stay coincided with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which they alleged racism from the Royal Family.
Buckingham Palace said in a statement afterward that the issues were concerning, and while “some recollections may vary“, the matter will be dealt with privately.
