British Royal family news says that even though the royal rota likes to side with Prince William and Kate Middleton on occasion, they can’t help but distance themselves a little bit in this case. In fact, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are criticized for moving to Adelaide Cottage at Windsor during a time in which many Britons are having a hard time paying their electricity bills and keeping their lights on. Royal author and expert Richard Kay, who is often on Team Cambridge, took to his weekly column at the Daily Mail to let it be known that he thinks William and Kate’s move to Windsor is a huge misstep, especially when it comes to optics. He wrote, “Certainly for a couple who have always demonstrated a deft hand in managing the public relations side of their royal life, the fact that they now have three enviable addresses at their disposal is a rare mis-step.”

Not only that, but Kay also said that William and Kate’s move right now, especially when prices are on the rise as inflation has peaked at sky high records, makes them come off as insensitive. He said, “The less charitable response [to the move], however, is that at a time of an exploding cost-of-living crisis affecting working families up and down the country, securing the use of an additional property looks clumsily insensitive.”

Are Prince William And Kate Middleton Being Insensitive?

Not only that, but Kay also believes that William and Kate adding Adelaide Cottage to their real estate portfolio really isn’t necessary. Right now they have four homes at their disposal. He said, “ So do William and Kate really need this third property? And if so could they not have put one of the remaining houses in mothballs or even – daringly – announced that they would stop using one of them altogether?”

So far William and Kate have made no comments about the matter but at this point, it’s doubtful they will say anything.
