While both royal brothers have made it pretty clear that they certainly miss having their grandfather in their lives, there are some royal experts who believe that Harry might have taken a jab at his brother when he added “Per Mare Per Terram” in his statement about his grandfather. The term is a motto used by the Royal Martins which means “By Sea, By Land.”

Yet, royal expert and editor Camilla Tominey believes that Prince Harry might have added this motto on purpose, as he wanted to reference his superior military service to his brother and of course, the world. Prince William was in the RAF, but he didn’t serve on the front lines in Afghanistan like his brother Harry.

Tominey puts it this way, “Having made no secret of the fact that he was disappointed not to be able to maintain his military ties, the inclusion of the four-word Latin phrase appeared designed to tell the world that while he may no longer be a working royal, like his grandfather he will forever remain one who saw active service. “
