William’s visit follows Prince Charles’ 200-mile round trip to see Philip over the weekend. He emerged from the hospital looking weary and his eyes were heavy.

Charles made a round-trip from his home at Highgrove in Gloucestershire on Saturday afternoon. Charles was the first member of the royal family to visit and he made no statement afterward.

The hospital’s website says that visitors will, “only be considered in exceptional circumstances.” It is said that no further visits to the duke are scheduled and police and security cars remained in place at the hospital.

The trip was criticized by some who found Charles to be outside of lockdown rules in taking the visit. Some questioned the so-called double standard of such a visit while they cannot see their own loved ones. But others were more charitable. Piers Morgan told those who would criticize the compassionate visit to, “shut the **** up.”
