Royal Family News: Prince William Housing The Homeless On Royal Property?

 Prince William British royal family news shows that Prince William could be ready to make a social issue statement and use royal family property to do it. Talk is that the future UK king might make royal real estate available to help the homeless.

Royal Family News – Will William Help The Homeless?

According to The Telegraph, William has asked his team to explore ideas to fight homelessness by using buildings that now are part of the Duchy of Cornwall. The duchy was established 700 years ago by Edward III. Since then the property has provided funds to the royal family.

An insider told the outlet that the idea came about because, “The Duke is interested in finding ways to help alleviate the homelessness situation in any way he can.”

Prince Charles has made the duchy a multi-million dollar enterprise. The property includes more than 130,000 acres of land split among 23 counties in England and Wales.

William told farmers in the documentary, Prince Charles: Inside The Duchy of Cornwall: “I’ve started to think about how I will inherit the Duchy one day. Well, rest assured I’m not going to rock the boat; I’ll do much the same as what my father’s doing. I’m not so into the architecture — that’s the only thing.”

Charles’ wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, added: “It’s not just a business — it encompasses everything he is passionate about, you know, it’s the environment, it’s sustainability, it’s looking after the land, which I think it’s generations of families who I think feel sort of looked after and cared for, and I think he minds desperately about that.”

The late Princess Diana took her two sons, William and Harry, to a Centrepoint charity event in 1993 where they met unhoused individuals; William later became patron of the organization.

Prince William Wants To Find Solutions

William spoke about the charity in 2019 saying, “Centrepoint was one of the first charities of which I became patron, back in 2005. I chose to do that because visiting Centrepoint’s services with my mother made such a lasting impression on me as a child. And it still makes a lasting impression on me today.”

“I was very struck by the people I met and what they were struggling with – sleeping rough, sofa surfing, not having basic comforts a lot of us take for granted. That really struck me at a young age, bearing in mind the gulf for me, growing up in a palace, and seeing the other end of the spectrum where others were faced with huge personal challenges and were overcoming them. That was powerful to see at a young age.”
