Royal Family News: Prince William Promised Mom Princess Diana He Would Reinstate Her Title When He Became King

British royal family news divulges that while the world now knows that the divorce between Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, and the late Princess Diana was contentious, the public is still learning ugly details of their domestic feuding.

For instance, it has now been revealed that Charles insisted that Diana’s HRH title be taken away from her when they divorced.

Prince Charles and Princess Diana met in 1977 at a hunting event at Diana’s family home, Althorp. Charles was dating Diana’s older sister Sarah but later Charles would be quoted as saying that he thought Diana a, “very jolly and amusing and attractive 16-year-old.”

Fast-forward to 1980 when their paths crossed again. Diana recalled, “When the [relationship] really started to get serious. . . I must have been 18 and a half. I thought, ‘I am quite impressed this time around.’”

Except that there was the problem of Charles coming on a bit strong, “like a bad rash … (he was) “all over me.”

Why did Princess Diana And Prince Charles Get Married In The First Place?

Apparently the rash incident occurred after she suggested that Charles needed someone by his side; he took that quite to heart apparently as he, “leapt upon me, started kissing me and everything.” She recalled thinking, “‘This is not what people do!'”

She added, “He was all over me for the rest of the evening. Followed me around, everything. Puppy. I was flattered, but I was very puzzled.”

Despite her bewilderment, it was just months later that the two were engaged. According to The New York Times, Charles proposed before he was to leave for Australia. “I wanted to give her a chance to think about it,” he reportedly said, “to think if it was all going to be too awful.”

Diana would later say, “I never had any doubts about it.” Perhaps she should have because Diana’s astrologist Penny Thornton claims that the princess told her Charles admitted, “he didn’t love her” the night before their wedding.

Her response? According to the astrologer, “She thought about not attending the wedding.” And yet she did, and we all know the rest of the story. Almost.

In 1996 the divorce was finalized, and Diana had to give up her HRH title, a demand made by Charles. Diana was upset but her son Prince William reportedly comforted her by saying, “Don’t worry, Mummy. I will give it back to you one day when I am king.”
