Royal Family news reveals that Prince William is pretty much planning his father, King Charles III’s coronation. Read on and we’ll fill you in on the details.
Royal Family News – Prince William To Be Fundamental To Coronation
Royal Family news reveals that William is taking a large role in planning his father’s coronation (per Yahoo!). Preparations for the big day are well underway since the event’s date was finalized as May 6, 2023. And though there are many royal staffers who will play a part in ensuring the event will go as smoothly as possible, the heir apparent clearly has the most invested in making sure it’s a success.
The Mirror UK reports that Prince William will play a fundamental role in the planning for the event – similar to the role his grandfather Prince Phillip played for Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation 70 years ago. The prince is expected to pay close attention to ensure that the occasion goes off without a hitch – free from any “archaic, feudal, or imperial” moments that would not be reflective of today’s Britain.
Coronation To Be Slimmed Down And Modernized
As a result, this coronation event will be the first time an heir has played an active role in a coronation in three generations. King Charles was merely four years old when his mother was crowned Queen and Elizabeth was just 11 when her father was coronated – meaning neither royal played a formal role in either ceremony.
Discussions are reportedly underway about how the palace can modernize and slim the event while at the same time ensuring it highlights the significance of the moment (via The Telegraph). However, Buckingham Palace has yet to confirm who will take part in the coronation committee.
Coronation To Reflect King’s Modern Role
Sources have said previously that officials had not seriously considered the particulars of the coronation in order to ensure that will would adequately reflect the “climate at the time in which it happens.” However, it’s handled, the coronation will, once again, see the eyes of the world turn to the UK.
Since the event will land on a Saturday, it is reportedly doubtful that another bank holiday will be added to the weekend marking the occasion. Notably, the event will take place on the fourth birthday of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s firstborn son, Archie.
Buckingham Palace said of the coronation last month, “The Coronation will reflect the monarch’s role today and look towards the future while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry. The guest list, it is thought, will be slashed by 75 percent, and a less formal dress code is expected to be set for the event.
