Royal Family News: Prince William Toasts The Queen At Platinum Concert

WilliamBritish royal family news shows that a party crowd assembled to fete Queen Elizabeth in front of Buckingham Palace for the Jubilee concert on Saturday night and it was truly an international affair with Prince William quoting Louis Armstrong’s song ‘What a Wonderful World’ and lauding the Queen’s environmental efforts.

The Platinum Party was dedicated to the environment and featured Sir David Attenborough. A pre-recorded message from Sir David was played and featured spectacular images of the planet along with the Hans Zimmer orchestra and dancers from the Royal Ballet.

When William praised his grandmother for her ‘hope’ in the future he was greeted by wild applause and screams of, ‘we love you.’ He also cited his pride in his father Prince Charles and his grandfather Prince Phillip for their environmental work.

Royal Family News – The Queen Stayed Home

The queen stayed home after a grueling day one of the jubilee, and her granddaughter Zara said Her Majesty would be watching on tv in “comfy clothes.” William repeated the Queen’s words from her Cop26 UN Climate Change summit speech in which she said that working together in a ‘common cause’ is cause for hope.

Prince Charles also paid a moving to the Queen, calling her ‘Mummy’ and thanking her for being a strong, dependable role model for the nation, in good times and bad, for 70 years. In a touching moment, Charles spoke of his late father the Duke of Edinburgh, calling him ‘My Papa’ and saying the Queen’s late husband was there ‘in spirit’. Philip died last year at the age of 99.

The crowds also heard archival recordings of the Queen speaking about the planet in 1989 during her Christmas Message: “The future of all life on earth depends on how we behave towards one another and how we treat the plants and animals that share our world with us.”

Prince Charles said of the queen, “You pledged to serve your whole life – you continue to deliver. That is why we are here. That is what we celebrate tonight.” He also noted her legacy, a family that includes 12 great-grandchildren, and on her dual role as sovereign and royal matriarch.

He said, “Your family now spans four generations. You are our Head of State. And you are also our mother.” He added, of Prince Philip, “Your ‘strength and stay’ is much missed this evening but I am sure he is here in spirit….”
