Royal Family News: Prince William Turns 40 With Increasing Power

British royal family news divulges that Prince William has spent his life in a fish bowl as a member of the royal family. On top of that he has lived through his parents’ high-profile divorce and his mother Diana’s public, tragic and untimely demise. How is the man who will one day be king faring, as he is on the cusp of turning 40?

As William reaches the milestone on Tuesday he is reportedly taking more control behind the scenes as the family ages and the monarchy is soiled by the unsavory antics of disgraced royals Andrew, Harry and Meghan.

William still has a way to go before he is crowned. He will follow his father Prince Charles who will follow the current monarch and his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.

But William’s ascension is apparent in the way he took center stage during the queen’s recent Platinum Jubilee celebrations. In particular he was in charge at the Saturday evening concert where he made a rousing speech in tribute of Queen Elizabeth II’s 70 years on the throne.

In part he said, “Tonight has been full of such optimism and joy — and there is hope.” As he spoke vivid, larger than life images of wildlife, oceans and jungles were projected onto the walls of Buckingham Palace behind him. “Together, if we harness the very best of humankind, and restore our planet, we will protect it for our children, for our grandchildren and for future generations to come.”

Royal Family News – William Is Taking Charge

It seems a natural progression that as the 96-year-old queen is increasingly hobbled by mobility and other health issues, she gradually transfers the spotlight to Prince Charles and William who especially is viewed as the face of a new generation of the monarchy.

William’s wife Kate is also increasingly visible as she awaits her turn as queen consort. She is an advocate for mental health, homelessness and early childhood years.

Royal Family News – The Cambridges Are Leading the Way

Royal expert Pauline Maclaran wrote of “Royal Fever: The British Monarchy in Consumer Culture,” and said that William is eager to show ,“how he will treat things differently.”

“And so we see that more and more, where the future of the line is being emphasized, with Charles being put more in a kind of holding position for William. We’re always reminded that William is after Charles,” she added.

No doubt William’s 40th birthday will be momentous not just as a marker of time past, but as a reminder of what is to come for the man who will be king.
