Royal Family News: Prince William Was Concerned About Meghan Adjusting to Royal Life

British royal family news reveals that Tina Brown’s new book Palace Papers has ignited the gossip mill, with lots of juicy tidbits for royal watchers to munch on. One of the juiciest bits concerns the oft-told story of how court jester Harry went into a fit of pique when his brother William tried to talk sense to him about game show girl Meghan Markle.

As the story goes, William was concerned over how fast Prince Harry moved once he met Meghan, who is now his wife. What’s the real scoop? According to Brown, William was not the only one with concerns about the B-list actress.

She wrote, “A person close to the Duke of Cambridge told me that William thought she should have more time to build up a life in the UK and make friends who didn’t always have to be brought in confidence to the Palace. It had been hard enough for Kate, but Meghan was a glamorous actress who would be the first woman of color to join the Royal Family, factors that would add enormously to the pressure.”

Brown went on to write: “Unspoken to Harry, the person said, was the older brother’s fear that Harry’s mental fragility was such that he wouldn’t be strong enough to handle all of that on her behalf, as well as his own issues.” Harry has been outspoken about the state of his mental health then and now and in the book Brown reveals that Harry’s ex-girlfriend, Cressida Bonas, told him to go to therapy for his own well-being.

Apparently, Harry’s response to William’s concerns about Meghan only served to rev him up and put him in fifth gear.

Brown writes that instead of carefully considering William’s suggestion, Harry went bat**** crazy and flew off in the opposite direction: “To his brother’s concerns, Harry’s riposte can be summarized as, I am told, ‘Well, actually the best way that I can protect her is to marry her as quickly as possible because as soon as I marry her she will then get police protection.'” Talk about a shotgun wedding.

The nuptials of Meghan and Harry sound like a slapdash plan cobbled together out of practical concerns—they announced their engagement in November 2017, just a little over a year after their relationship was publicly confirmed and they put a ring on it in April 2018. Now, look at them.
