William is currently the Prince of Wales, just as Charles was before him. But royal aides have confirmed that when the time comes, William’s coronation will have his own signature look and feel. Sources told People that William’s ceremony will be modern and relevant.

For example Charles’ service included an “homage of the people” that caused controversy as it invited people inside and outside the Abbey to pay respect to the King and his “heirs and successors.”

He is mindful of the fact that in 20 years’ time, or whenever his time comes, how can the coronation be modern but also unifying to the nation and the Commonwealth? I think his coronation will look and feel quite different.”

Prince William’s signature scheme is the Earthshot Prize, which gives money for brilliant ideas that can help the planet. The third award ceremony will be held in Singapore in November and “include a week of events to promote this year’s prize winners and celebrate the legacy of those who have been honored in the first two years.”

While in Singapore, the plan is to showcase finalists who have had a major impact and encourage ongoing “optimism” which is said to be Prince William’s main motivator for the awards. A royal source describes this upcoming series of events as one way William is implementing a more “modern royalty.”
