Royal Family News: Princess Beatrice Tells Kids That Dyslexia Can Be A ‘Superpower’

British royal family news reveals that Princess Beatrice has narrated a book for Children’s Book Day. The recently married royal has been open and direct about her struggles with dyslexia in the past and now she has narrated a book written by Kate Griggs, the founder of the global charity Made By Dyslexia.
Beatrice is an ambassador of the charity and the foreword was written by Sir Richard Branson, who is also dyslexic.
The princess was filmed narrating Xtraordinary People, published by Penguin Random House Children’s, from her London home at St. James’s Palace.

The group Xtraordinary People aims to assist children in embracing the strengths that can be gained from dyslexia. Dyslexia is a learning disorder that affects reading and writing.
Beatrice was diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of seven. She has said that as an adult she views the condition as a “tremendous gift”’ and wants to help children to learn to benefit from their strengths. The book is being published prior to International Children’s Book Day on April 2.

Beatrice said in a promotional video for the book, “What you may not know about me is that I was Made by Dyslexia, which was a bit of a struggle when I was at school. But now, thanks to all the practice and a lot of support, I feel so lucky to be made by Dyslexia and working with some incredible organizations who are there to support you on your journey to find out what your superpower is.
She went on to say, “So today, I am thrilled to be reading this amazing book, called Xtraordinary people.”

Royal Family News: Dyslexia Can Be Seen as a Superpower
There is another video in which Beatrice reads from the book and shares how having dyslexia can help children access certain jobs due to their, “xtraordinary way of thinking.”
People “Made by Dyslexia” are very good at certain things. Some people call them our “superpowers,” Beatrice reads.
“We say that is what makes us Xtraordinary. You see, when you’re dyslexic, you think a little different to people who not dyslexic. This Xtraordinary way of thinking makes us very good at all sorts of things.”

She explains along the way, “It’s no secret that I struggled with my dyslexia as a child and often even wished it away.”

It's so refreshing to see her embrace the strengths and not whine about any downside like Meghan Markle always focuses on.
Great news! I have a close relative who suffers. I have seen firsthand how embarrassment has held them back from doing things most of us take for granted. Fear of situations which will cause them struggles to read or write in front of others. That's why I don't like people criticising others writing on platforms such as this. I like that people are brave enough to write a comment, they should not be shamed by their writing skills. It is wonderful someone such as Beatrice is bringing awareness to this situation which many are suffering from and are hiding for fear of being shamed. I gave this relative their first computer and that helped them enormously, so perhaps a charity supplying tablet computers might be a great help. Thank you Beatrice for giving dyslexia some much needed attention.
