Royal Family News: Princess Charlotte Joins An Elite Club of Just Seven Members, Hinges On Her NameBritish royal family news divulges that fancy and elaborate names and titles distinguish the British monarchy. The monikers are associated with various meanings and subtexts can be difficult to comprehend.

For example, when Prince Charles becomes king there will be some naming changes, same as when his own son, Prince William, follows in his father’s footsteps. Each king is entitled to choose a regnal name to distinguish his reign.

Royal Family News – Big Changes Ahead

The Mirror reports that it is expected that when Charles becomes King, William will be given the title of The Prince of Wales which means his three children will become known as Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis of Wales. At the moment they are known as the Cambridge family.

But it’s actually Charlotte who could inherit a historic royal title so rare that it’s only been associated with seven people.

What Might Charlotte Become?

That title is The Princess Royal. Today it is held by Princess Anne. Typically the title is upon the eldest daughter of the monarch. Princess Charlotte will qualify when her father becomes king and when the previous holder is no longer alive.

Who are the special women who have held this title? The first to hold the title of The Princess Royal was Princess Mary, the eldest daughter of King Charles I and Queen Henrietta Maria.

Only six have followed since. These include: Princess Louisa Maria (daughter of King James II and VII), Princess Anne (King George II), Princess Charlotte (King George III), Princess Victoria (Queen Victoria), Princess Louise (King Edward VII), Princess Mary (King George V) and Princess Anne (Queen Elizabeth II).

Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, is Kate Middleton and Prince William’s second child and only girl. She was born in 2015 at the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital in London.

She enjoys a normal childhood full of her favorite pastimes including gymnastics and swimming.

Very soon the Cambridge family will make a major residence change, moving from Kensington Palace to Adelaide Cottage on the royal Windsor estate. As such the three Cambridge kids will start over at a new school. It is presumed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will for the first time attend school together, in Berkshire. The world is full of change and this is especially so for royal families.
