Royal Family News – Diana Duped into Interview

Royal Family news reveals that the princess may not have been “bullied” or “hectored” into giving that controversial BBC Panorama interview. This comes from a broadcaster who has been a part of the BBC family since the 1950s.

David Dimbleby, presenter for Panorama throughout the 1970s, explained that, although he understood the concerns raised by Prince William about the interview after it was revealed that Diana may have been duped during attempts to access her, it doesn’t negate the entire interview.

Princess Diana Meant What She Said

“I understand Prince William’s objections and the problem with how the interview was achieved,” Dimbleby told Britain’s Radio Times, “but I don’t believe Diana was coerced into giving it. She clearly wants to say her part, she was not bullied or hectored into it.”

He then explained that, according to what we see in the clips, what she was saying was “genuinely meant.”

Bashir Ordered To Pay

These claims come as part one of a four-part series on Channel 4 delving into the circumstances of Lady Diana’s death aired on Sunday. A report by Lord Dyson into the interview last year exposed “deceitful behavior,” on the part of Bashir, to secure the interview.

The reporter is accused of falsifying bank statements as well as spreading false information about Princes William and Harry’s former nanny, Tiggy Legge-Bourke. BBC was ultimately required to pay damages to Legge-Bourke, according to the Toronto Sun.

New Dimbleby Documentary

The Sun reports that Dimbleby is also set to present a BBC documentary next Tuesday that will look into the outlet’s biggest controversies. He was, however, barred from using footage from the Panorama interview in the new show.

Several new claims have come to light as we approach the 25th anniversary of the August 1997 Paris Tunnel crash that took the 36-year-old Princess Diana’s life along with that of her driver, Henri Paul, and her boyfriend Dodi Fayed. These claims reportedly include a letter in which the princess claimed she could be killed in a staged crash not reaching the desk of French investigators for six years following that fatal night, the documentary claims.

The Mishcon Note

The series “Investigating Diana: Death in Paris,” which started Sunday, August 21, referenced the “Mishcon Note” written by the Princess of Wales’ legal adviser in 1995. The series will reportedly delve into what Diana said during a meeting with Victor Mishcon and her personal private secretary at the time.

The final two parts of the series will be broadcast at 9 PM on Sunday, August 28, and Monday, the 29th. Return here often for more Royal Family news and updates.
