Royal Family News – King Charles’ First State Banquet As Sovereign

Royal Family news reveals that, according to Marie Claire, the Princess of Wales was looking the part when she attended her first state banquet on Tuesday in her new role. She reportedly wore her best attire thus far.

The banquet, hosted by King Charles and Camilla, Queen Consort, was put on to welcome South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. Kate bedazzled in a white gown by Jenny Packham paired with Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot tiara (via PEOPLE).

The tiara, also a favorite of Princess Diana’s, was adorned with pearls hanging from diamond knots. The Court Jeweller describes the piece as more than a century old. Originally commissioned from the jeweler Garrard by Queen Mary circa 1913, the tiara is a replica of a tiara originally worn by Mary’s grandmother, Princess Augusta of Hess, also the Duchess of Cambridge.

The tiara was also a favorite of her mother-in-law, Princess Diana. According to the Court Jeweller, the stunning sparkler is more than a century old and was originally commissioned from the jeweler Garrard by Queen Mary in either 1913 or 1914. It is a replica of a tiara owned by Mary’s grandmother, Princess Augusta of Hesse, the Duchess of Cambridge.

Prince and Princess Of Wales – Looking The Part

That’s not all that brought the late Princess Diana along for the ride. The earrings that Kate wore also belong to Diana and she reportedly wore them recently for the Remembrance Day Sunday Service. She completed her seemingly symbolic ensemble with the Royal Family Order and the Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order star and sash.

Beside the Princess of Wales stood Prince William in a suit with the Garter Star, the Thistle star, and three medals representing Queen Elizabeth’s three Jubilees (Gold in 2002, Diamond in 2012, and Platinum in 2022). As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, this state visit is the first that the British Royal Family has hosted since former-President Donald Trump visited the UK in 2019.
