Royal Family News: Queen Allowed Trustworthy Kate Middleton To Do Something Meghan Was Snubbed Over

British royal family news shows that the monarch and her family members spend time at Balmoral in Scotland each summer. It is a special ritual enjoyed by the queen and her favorite relatives. As one might expect, staying on a sprawling estate with Her Majesty could be a tad intimidating.

But apparently the queen went out of her way to welcome one unique visitor—did she see something special in this person long before the younger woman made history?

Royal Family News – The Queen Greeted Kate Warmly

When Kate Middleton, then the future Duchess of Cambridge, came to Balmoral for the first time the queen made sure to make her comfortable and reportedly even let her guard down according to Marie Claire.

How did the queen welcome Kate? She did so by granting, “her a rare privilege: allowing her to bring along her camera and take pictures of the estate and the surrounding landscape after learning how much Kate enjoyed photography.” That is called trust, something that Harry and Meghan and Oprah have proven they do not deserve. This June the couple flew in to see the queen (reportedly for all of 15 minutes) and they allegedly were denied the right to bring not just a camera, they wanted to bring NETFLIX cameras. So the story goes, and it rings true. It also rings true that 96-year old Queen Elizabeth can distinguish a phony from the real deal every time.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl wrote in her book Kate: The Future Queen, “until now, the Queen had met Kate only fleetingly at the wedding of Peter and Autumn Philips, but she went out of her way to make her feel welcome, giving her permission to take pictures at Balmoral.”

The queen met Kate in 2008 after William and Kate had been together for over five years. William and Kate became engaged in 2010 and married the following year.

Nicholl added, “As a woman who has lived her entire life in the public eye, the Queen rarely lets her guard down, and very few, apart from her family and closest friends, get to see the real Elizabeth.” Thus, letting Kate in truly meant something.

Summer holidays at Balmoral occur in August and September on the estate’s 50,000 acres. What is the pastoral scene like? The Queen’s granddaughter Princess Eugenie summed it up in the documentary Our Queen at 90: “it’s the most beautiful place on earth. I think Granny is the most happy there. I think she really, really loves the Highlands…walks, picnics, dogs, a lot of dogs, there’s always dogs, and people coming in and out all the time. Family-wise we’re all there, so it’s a lovely base for Granny and Grandpa to be—for us to come and see them up there where you just have room to breathe and run.”
