Royal Family News: Queen Arrives At Royal Windsor Horse Show Grinning With Happiness

 QueenBritish royal family news shows that today Queen Elizabeth was out and about and pleased as punch to be at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, one of her favorite annual events. The chipper monarch rolled down her Range Rover’s window and chatted amiably to fellow guests. She has not missed the event 79 years.

Contrast her bright appearance at the horse show and her no-show at the opening of Parliament on Tuesday. She missed the Queen’s Speech on Tuesday on doctor’s orders. Instead, she sent Princes Charles and William in her place as she struggles to walk or stand for long periods.

Royal Family News – The Queen Was Out and About

It was just revealed that this week she made a secret trip to see her own horses after missing the first day of the event yesterday; 14 of her animals will be taking part over the coming days.
Her late husband, Prince Philip, also loved The Royal Windsor Horse Show. He died a last April at the age of 99, surrounded by his loved ones at Windosr Castle. No doubt that the queen’s attendance today brought back many happy memories of their 73-year marriage.

Royal Family News – The Queen Looked Magnificent

The show runs until Sunday and is the Queen’s favorite event of the year. However The Mirror reports that Princess Beatrice stepped in for Her Majesty in a “dress rehearsal” for Sunday night’s festivities.

Beatrice was said to have been, “delighted to be asked to play the role of the Queen,” to make sure the “event would go without a hitch should Her Majesty wish to attend the Royal Windsor Horse Show in this way.”

The Sun reports that instead of attending the event, the Queen decided to visit her own horses, having “changed her mind.” In 79 years she has not missed the show and this year’s event will see 14 of her horses competing.

Royal Family News – The Queen Is A Horse Lover

The Queen was to drive from Windsor Castle to see her five-year-old gelding First Responder compete, but her appearance was called off just minutes before the horse was up. She then privately visited her other horses entered into the contest at the Royal Mews at the castle.

It followed her historic pull out of the State Opening of Parliament for the first time in 59 years because of her increasing mobility issues. Prince Charles and Prince William went in her place, with the former reading her speech for the first time.
