British royal family news reveals that Queen Camilla was once seen as a reviled third wheel home wrecker in the marriage of Prince Charles and Diana, and in the court of public opinion. In a grueling BBC interview the late Diana painted Camilla with a brush dipped in cyanide.

The public ate it up and there were questions about Camilla ever being made Charles’ and the UK’s queen. But here we are today, with Queen Camilla standing proud beside her husband the regent following their May 6 coronation in London. Now a n inside source spills all about Camilla’s fear that she would not be accepted as Queen of The Land.

Sara Parker Bowles is the former daughter-in-law of Queen Camilla, having been married to food writer Tom Parker Bowles, for 15 years. She spilled to The Times that “Camilla was really, really nervous. She wanted the people that she loved around her … But Camilla didn’t ask for any of this.”

Her loyal DIL added that reticent Camilla is nothing less than the absolute “human face of the royal family because she’s not part of it. You need those outsiders really.” And that is an interesting way to look at it. We’re pretty sure that a raft of senior working royals see it a tad differently. Bloodlines and all.

Yet in 2005 Charles and Camilla married and a strong effort was made to relaunch her brand. Sara described the time period as “the hate years. (Camilla) wasn’t accepted at all. She didn’t talk about it. She was just very brave and uncomplaining.”

The former daughter-in-law dished that son Tom was worried that haterade would be poured all over again on Camilla when Queen Elizabeth died last September. Luckily, “it has been the opposite” Sara said.

Sara is mother to Freddy, 13, and Lola, 16, two of the Queen’s grandchildren. She said that of her son at the coronation “ (he) wanted to go in the gold carriage, but he didn’t get to. Then his face on the balcony — I could see he was just like, ‘Woah!’”

She recalled that Freddy (who calls Camilla “Gaga”) acted up just a wee bit on Coronation Day as well. According to her, her son “did a little wave that he wasn’t supposed to.” And moms everywhere can relate to her next statement: “I was quite obsessively watching him. But I knew by then he was going to be okay, that I could sort of let go.” Maybe Camilla can let go of any anxiety, too, as today she seems to be more than okay with the UK public.
