Royal Family News: Queen Elizabeth Clears Calendar To Meet Baby Lilibet

Queen ElizabethBritish royal family news reveals that Queen Elizabeth will make more history on Saturday when she meets her namesake Lilibet, Prince Harry and Meghan’s daughter. Lili turns one on that day, in the middle of the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations.

The 96-year-old monarch will likely meet her namesake due to missing her favorite sporting event, the Derby horse races at Epsom.

Lili was born in California and has not met many of her royal family members. Harry and Meghan have been to the UK just once in two years after Megxit, in a short visit made as a detour while on their way to the Invictus Games in The Hague in April.

Royal Family News – The Queen Will Meet Her Namesake

According to the Daily Mail, Lili’s first birthday will be celebrated at Frogmore Cottage, the house her parents abandoned as not being up to their standards. After the couple fled, Harry arranged for his cousin Princess Eugenie and her family to live there; they now must vacate to accommodate Harry.

Lilibet was born in California unlike her brother Archie, three, who was born at London’s Portland Hospital. The Queen met Archie two days after he was born on May 6, 2019.

Royal Family News – Harry Is Returning Home

The outlet reports that sources revealed to The Sun, “that it is becoming increasingly unlikely that the Queen will be able to travel to Epsom, Surrey, for the horseracing Derby as all three of her precious horses have pulled out of the race.”

If she does not attend, it will be just the third time in the Queen’s 70-year reign that she will miss the Epsom Derby. She missed the first time when she was on a state visit to Sweden in 1956 and the second time when she was in France for the 40th anniversary of D-Day in 1984.

Her daughter, Anne, Princess Royal will be standing in for Her Majesty and representing the entire royal family on her behalf.

Will The Queen Miss The Derby?

Palace aides told The Sun that efforts had previously been made to, “ensure she could get to the royal box on the big day,” but this no longer appears possible. The Queen is suffering from mobility issues and has used both a walking stick and a customized golf cart to get around.
