Royal Family News: Queen Elizabeth Cuts Her Cake and Cracks the Room Up

British royal family news shows that 95-year old Queen Elizabeth has a big reason to celebrate on February 6, that is the official date of her Platinum Jubilee. The Jubilee marks seven decades on the throne, and there is virtually no one who has a single bad word to say about Her Majesty which speaks volumes. Even Republicans, members of a group calling for the abolition of the monarchy, have nothing against Queen Elizabeth and have gladly said so.

Queen Elizabeth Has Had an Epic Epoch

On Saturday, the day before the Jubilee, the queen had a bit of pre-Jubilee fun entertaining guests at her Sandringham Estate. It was there that she made everyone laugh as she confronted the prospect of cutting into an honorary cake.

This was no ordinary cake, it was a cake to celebrate her 70 years as reigning Queen—let that sink in. And yet rather than be overwhelmed, “she let the jokes fly,” according to TMZ.

First of all she had a fun crack at the expense of the media. When she was walked over to the cake, she was told it was upside down from her point of view, so that the media could get a good shot of it.

She thought that was hilarious and said, “So they can see. I don’t matter?” Everyone erupted and she kept it up!

Queen Elizabeth Cuts Up

Next she plunged the knife into the cake, and that was enough. Did they think she would perform the menial task of cutting slices—if so, WRONG. “Oh yes,” she said, “it works beautifully. Someone else can do the rest of it,” then smiled the smile of a thousand suns.

The Queen Is Doing Fine

Seeing the Queen happy and smiling and joking is a great sign after months of questions about her health. Late last year she was hospitalized and missed several key engagements. As is their custom, the palace was tight lipped with any details and the public was left to wonder if she was really all right.

Judging by her latest appearance, the queen is more than all right and that is everything.
