Royal Family News: Queen Elizabeth Finally Gets A Work Break At Age 96

British royal family news shows that Queen Elizabeth is getting a well-deserved break in her work schedule, at the age of 96. When most of us would be long past retirement age, the queen has kept up a full calendar until very recently. Late last year she was hospitalized overnight for an undisclosed ailment and since then has been hobbled by mobility issues.

Now comes word that Buckingham Palace, “has reduced or removed some of the duties which the Queen, 96, ‘must fulfil’ as Monarch in its annual review, with insiders downplaying the significance of the changes.”

The Queen Is Relaxing

There is no need to downplay the downsizing, no shame in cutting back one’s work while approaching the century mark!

Her heir Prince Charles the Prince of Wales is expected to now step forward, “and take on some of the more demanding official duties, while events such as the State Opening of Parliament, once thought a necessary constitutional convention, have been removed. It is the first time in at least a decade that the Palace’s annual report has edited or amended the Queen’s duties.”

An insider dished that the change is not drastic, rather a, “small post-Jubilee update.”

Will The Queen Abdicate?

According to the Sovereign Grant report, the Queen’s role still has two key elements: Head of State and Head of Nation. She is also the Head of the Commonwealth, although recent rumblings indicate some nations, such as Jamaica, plan to terminate their participation.

Despite the scaling back of the queen’s duties, she still, “must fulfil specific duties in the ‘formal constitutional concept’ of her role as Head of State.”

These included the appointment of the Prime Minister and paying and receiving State Visits.

There Is A New Order

In the new order, vague language indicates that the Queen’s role, “encompasses a range of parliamentary and diplomatic duties’ and that she only ‘receives’ other visiting heads of state. As Head of Nation, the Queen will only fulfil her duties ‘where appropriate or necessary.’”

Fans should not fear a total disappearance of Her Majesty however, as she still is tasked with, “inspiring ‘unity and national identity’ and ‘continuity and stability’, recognizing the ‘achievement and success’ of others and ensuring ‘support of service’ from volunteers to the emergency services and the military.”
