Royal Family News: Queen Elizabeth Has Something To Celebrate

Queen ElizabethBritish royal family news teases that Queen Elizabeth is about to hit an epic milestone that will make her the only person in this club. She has almost seven decades on the throne and no UK monarch has a record that long. She has been queen since 1952 which means her Platinum Jubilee takes place next year.

In honor of the queen’s tremendous accomplishment there is an extended bank holiday weekend planned from Thursday, June 2, until Sunday, June 5 and what would a royal extravaganza be without a parade? This parade will be a “Trooping the Colour” parade, plus a derby horse race, and a party at the palace are also planned.

Royal Family News – Queen Elizabeth Is 95-Years Old

Some members of the Royal Family will receive platinum jubilee medals as part of the celebration. Among the lucky recipients are, believe it or not, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. This eyebrow raising act is said to be a sort of olive branch to the royal runaways. They deserted the family for a life of money and excess in Hollywood and they have made good on their promise.

Royal Family News – Harry Will Get Another Medal

Last month the U.K. government shared the designs for the platinum jubilee medal which is intended to be given to individuals who served as members of the police, fire, emergency services, prison services and the Armed Forces with at least five years of service.

Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries said in a statement: “Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is a wonderful opportunity to recognize the dedication and service of those who, like the Queen, tirelessly serve our country.”

It’s debatable if Harry and Meghan have served, let alone tirelessly, the country, but oh well let’s let bygones be bygones.

The Markle’s Are In Line For A Medal

Actually, the list of recipients includes members of the Royal Household with at least one year of service, which is the category Harry and Markle likely fall in. Barely. They married in May 2018 and moaned the whole while they were “in service” but apparently they qualify.

The couple now have two children and live in California. A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman told the Express late last month, “A wide number of members of the Royal Family will receive the Platinum Jubilee medal in line with the previous two jubilees.”

An even more contentious name on the list is Prince Andrew. At the moment he is named in a sexual assault lawsuit in New York.
