Royal Family News: Queen Elizabeth Just Broke Royal Protocol But Swears She Won’t Do It Again

Queen Elizabeth British royal family news reveals that Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh broke royal protocol in a big way recently, and just to make it crystal clear, they are letting the public know they won’t do it again! They broke code by going public this weekend with the news that they each got the COVID-19 vaccine on Saturday. This is in contrast to royal rules which maintain strict privacy around medical matters.

According to The Mirror this breach of royal protocol was done by Her Majesty to encourage the nation to take the shot as well. But, the public will not be told when the couple receive their second of the two required vaccinations.

Royal Family News: The Queen And Her Husband Have Been Inoculated

The publication also stated that this is so that the public doesn’t know if the royals received the Pfizer-BioNTech or Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, the two currently approved for use in the UK and which require two shots to be effective. Because they have a different duration between the first and second dose, it would be obvious which ones the royals were given.

Buckingham Palace confirmed the inoculations took place with a household Doctor at Windsor Castle but did not divulge the manufacturer.

The Mirror was told by sources that if the vaccine manufacturer were known the public could favor one over the other.

Royal Family News: The Palace Is Trying To Be Transparent

This is not the first time Her Majesty has promoted vaccine efforts as in 1957, just four years after her coronation, the Queen championed the use of the newly-developed polio vaccine.

Her children Prince Charles and Princess Anne, both teenagers, were given two injections a month apart. At the time the Daily Mail reported, “Thus the Queen has followed 200,000 other mothers in using Britain’s vaccine – just a year after its discovery was announced.”

It’s not known who will be the next member of the royal family to receive the COVID-19 shot or if it will be publicized.

Royal Family News: Prince Charles Had COVID

Prince Charles had coronavirus last April. He is 72 and thus in a high risk age group for the virus. He recently commented on speculation he’d be first in line for the shot by saying he is, “way down the list and will have to wait.” Previously he said he has antibodies as a result of his illness and is therefore less of a priority.

If the Queen and Prince Philip encourage the older generation to get a vacations then it's a good thing. Surely helping/saving your people tops any preference for privacy. Otherwise at her age and years of service let her serve her remaining time in her own way. The next generation of monarchy can bring about more change and transparency etc.
