According to royal watcher Ingrid Seward, Harry’s maudlin exodus from his family and Britain has left them reeling, sad, and upset. Seward has written the book Prince Philip Revealed and she recently spoke to The Post about the elder royal family members.

She claims that the couple probably had “high hopes” when Prince Harry wed Meghan Markle. “I think it was a huge shock and then as very often happens shock then turns to irritation because you think why? What have we all done wrong and what it is that they want and what is it that they haven’t got?”

Of the Markles she said, “They’ve got a beautiful house, they’ve got a beautiful child, they were doing what they wanted to do, their voices were being heard and I think they just couldn’t understand and probably still don’t.”

Did The Queen Have Big Plans For Harry And Meghan But They Were Unable To Bide Their Time?

Seward thinks that Megxit was all the more dismaying because Queen Elizabeth may have seen them as the “new face of royalty” one that would serve the monarchy well as it meandered into the 21st century.

“And I think they could hardly believe it when Harry announced they were leaving for North America and wanted out of royal life,” said Seward.

She also believes that Prince Philip was particularly hard hit by the sucker punch that Megxit packed because, “he’s always been very fond,” of his grandson.

“Harry is spontaneous, he’s fun and he’s a bit of a daredevil or he was and Philip, when he was young, was all these things too. So I think he saw a little bit of himself in Harry and the two of them were able to communicate very well.”
