British royal family news reveals that Queen Elizabeth has tweeted a heartfelt message of thanks to the nation to conclude her historic Platinum Jubilee. The Jubilee commemorates an incredible 70 year reign and the nation turned out in droves to celebrate the remarkable 96-year old woman who has led them with a steady hand for seven decades.

The Queen issued a statement on Sunday following the Platinum Jubilee Pageant, the concluding event of a four-day celebration: “When it comes to how to mark 70 years as your Queen, there is no guidebook to follow. It really is a first. But I have been humbled and deeply touched that so many people have taken to the streets to celebrate my Platinum Jubilee.”

The queen’s appearance today bookmarked an astonishing four day celebration of her reign, as she last appeared in-person on Thursday to celebrate Trooping the Colour. According to People, “she has been unable to participate in all the events to mark her 70 years on the throne due to mobility issues.”

Kate Middleton mentioned during a reception held at Guildhall on Friday, “Yes, she [the Queen] was fine, it was just very tiring yesterday.”

The Epsom Derby was held on Saturday, and she watched the race on TV, according to her granddaughter Zara, “in comfy clothes.” On Saturday night Platinum Party at the Palace was held and while the Queen did not appear in person a video was shown of her having tea with adorable Paddington Bear!

During the grand finale, Queen Elizabeth was joined by Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Prince William, Kate Middleton and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Finally, the national anthem, “God Save the Queen,” played and the family sang along with thousands of well-wishers as a spectacular display of red, white and blue fireworks exploded in the sky. It was a perfect end to a perfect jubilee celebrating an imperfect family and monarchy the nation loves with all its heart nonetheless.
