As a result, we tend to associate Queen Elizabeth with prestigious events and actions. That mental image made a recent revelation all the more shocking: The Queen has honored a British sex toy company with what is regarded as one of the most highly regarded business awards in the United Kingdom!
Queen Elizabeth Praises Sex Toy Company Lovehoney
Since it was created in 2002, Lovehoney has blossomed into the largest online sex toy company in the United Kingdom. Now that adult retailer is getting the ultimate honor from Queen Elizabeth herself.
The Queen’s Award for Enterprise is an international trade award. Queen Elizabeth recognized the sex toy company for achieving “outstanding continuous growth in overseas sales over the last six years.”
Apparently focused more on how the company helped her country’s revenue than what the company sold, Queen Elizabeth applauded Lovehoney for achieving a 365 percent overseas sales growth. The adult retailer also fostered exported sales, with the percentage of sales exported soaring from 27 percent originally to 45 percent today.
Queen Elizabeth Recognizes Sexual Wellness Products Growth: ’50 Shades of Grey’ Products!
Assessing the company’s growth, Lovehoney executives noted that the adult toy company flourished after receiving the license to develop the official “50 Shades of Grey” product line.
“Through that partnership, Lovehoney has several lines, including a collection celebrating the books’ 10th anniversary,” said the adult retailer in a release.
Lovehoney also turned to Twitter to express their enthusiasm for the honor bestowed by Queen Elizabeth.
“We’re so excited to announce that we’ve been awarded The Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade 2021! We are immensely proud of our ongoing achievements and this award is amazing recognition of our passionate and hardworking teams at Lovehoney,” tweeted the adult retailer.
“We are thrilled to have received official recognition from the Queen,” said Debbie Bond, Chief Commercial Officer for Lovehoney. “Her Majesty has been a wonderful supporter of Lovehoney as we have grown into being the world’s leading sexual wellness brand.”
The “50 Shades of Grey” partnership has given Lovehoney the opportunity to create a variety of new product lines. One such collection celebrates the 10th anniversary of the X-rated books.
Lovehoney has sold adult toys to nations around the world, including the United States and Canada. Other countries served by the adult sex toy company include France, Australia, Germany, Spain, and New Zealand.
“Royal patronage will help us to create more jobs at our Bath headquarters and in our international offices and spread the sexual happiness message globally,” gushed Bond.
The Lovehoney chief commercial officer also pointed out that receiving the award from Queen Elizabeth herself is indicative of how adult sex toys have expanded into an accepted business.
“The Queen is the UK’s greatest trade ambassador and royal approval shows again how mainstream shoppers and retail outlets are embracing sexual wellness products as never before and appreciating their importance in improving overall well-being – a particularly important message as we come out of lockdown after a stressful year living with the pandemic,” noted Bond.
