Royal Family News: Queen Turned 96 In Isolation, Receives Social Media Tributes From Family

British royal family news shows that Queen Elizabeth turned 96 today and to celebrate her family posted numerous photos and well-wishes on social media. One day before the big day the Royal Windsor Horse Show released a photo of Queen Elizabeth which was taken in March at Windsor Castle. The delightful pic shows the monarch standing between her fell ponies, Bybeck Katie and Bybeck Nightingale.

Also on Wednesday, the Queen traveled from Windsor Castle to her Sandringham estate in Norfolk. There she will be surrounded by memories of her late husband Prince Philip who died at the age of 99 last year. According to People Her Majesty plans to spend her birthday alone.

But in June the mood will be different as that is when the public celebration of Queen Elizabeth’s birthday, known as Trooping the Colour, takes place. This year she is also celebrating her Platinum Jubilee and Trooping the Colour will take on added significance.

Queen Elizabeth is 96

While the queen may be in solitude for her big day, her family reached out to her on social media. The official Royal Family Twitter and Instagram pages posted a black-and-white photo of the queen from 1928 when she was 2 years old. The adorable pic shows the tot with delicate curls on top of her head, her head resting on both hands.

The post was captioned, “Happy Birthday Your Majesty! Today as The Queen turns 96, we’re sharing this photograph of the young Princess Elizabeth aged 2. Then, in 1928, it was never expected she would be Queen, and this year Her Majesty is celebrating her #PlatinumJubilee — a first in British history.”

The Queen Made History

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s accounts also showed off pictures of the beloved grandmother and great-grandmother. One picture shows Prince William and the Queen at Kate’s Back to Nature garden at the 2019 Chelsea Flower Show. A second snap reveals the Queen and Prince Philip surrounded by their great-grandchildren at Balmoral. The photos were captioned: “An inspiration to so many across the UK, the Commonwealth and the world, it’s particularly special to be celebrating in this #PlatinumJubilee year.”

Queen Elizabeth’s Family Remembers Her Birthday

The queen’s son and heir Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall also shared four photos including a beautiful photo of Her Majesty at the G7 Reception last year. Other pictures reveal the Queen and Camilla at the Diamond Jubilee Pageant in 2011 and Prince Charles kissing his mother’s hand at the Diamond Jubilee Concert.

Queen Elizabeth’s granddaughter Princess Eugenie posted a picture from Trooping the Colour in 1998 which shows her in front of Prince Philip and next to the Queen. She captioned it: “Happy 96th Birthday Granny! You have been such an inspiration to me and so many across the world. Thank you for your support, love, and strength. Xx.”
