Royal Family news reveals that, according to Best Life, though King Charles did “his very best” to accommodate the Duchess of Sussex, she resisted his charm and, in fact, gave him nothing for his efforts. When the Sussexes first began dating it seemed that her relationship with then-Prince Charles was meaningful, especially when her own father failed to show up at her extravagant wedding and Charles stepped up to walk his daughter-in-law down the aisle.

After Markle sealed the deal, becoming an official royal, things have seemed to sour between the pair, especially after Harry and Meghan decided to step down as working royals and move to the United States.

King Charles Says Onus Is On Meghan

More recently, Meghan spilled the beans about Prince Harry and King Charles’ relationship problems which only fueled speculation that the two weren’t close. Now, according to royal expert Angela Levin, King Charles feels as if he “did his very best” for the former Suits star, and that the relationship issue is on her.

Levin explained to The Sun that the King gave his all to establish a relationship with Markle, but that her desire to be the centerpiece for the family was the reason their relationship fragmented. Levin also claimed that the King’s efforts were met “with no enthusiasm.”

Meghan Markle Wanted to Be Number One

“Prince Charles, as he was then when he was first introduced to Meghan thought she was terrific,” Levin told The Sun. “He did think she was a breath of fresh air and he was very happy that Prince Harry had found someone to get married to.”

She went on to add that, despite the King’s kindness, with invitations to Balmoral and to “lunch in the country,” his efforts were “taken with no enthusiasm or not taken at all.” Levin said that Charles has done his very best “but Meghan wanted her and Harry to be number one and it annoyed her.”

Levin also added that the reason the King has a better relationship with Prince William’s wife Kate Middleton was that “Catherine comes from a stable family where if there are any arguments or disputes, they work very hard, very quickly to sort it out.”
