Additionally Elizabeth received a superior education to Margaret. Despite the friction Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret remained close although Margaret allegedly thought she would have made a better queen. Later, the Royal Marriages Act prohibited her from marrying Captain Peter Townsend, because he was divorced.

At one point The Telegraph reported that Margaret “did occasionally slip into passive aggressive behavior to let Elizabeth know how she felt … towards her sister’s glittering life.”

Margaret eventually married Antony Armstrong-Jones in the first televised royal marriage. The marriage was scandalous because he was a commoner and years later their divorce was equally scandalous.

Perhaps Margaret used retail therapy as a coping mechanism and she “was heavily criticized throughout her life for her excessive spending.”

She was dubbed the “party princess,” and Craig Brown’s book about her “Ma’am Darling” claimed she has breakfast in bed “at 9:00 a.m. followed by endless cigarettes and two hours of listening to the radio. At 12:30, she started drinking vodka.”

The parallels between Margaret and Harry’s lives are fascinating, both spares, both with an attitude, and both well acquainted with scandal. Tell us royal fans, do you see any other similarities between Margaret and Harry?
