British royal family news shows that Meghan Markle had a significant social media presence before she flunked out of the monarchy. Is Sarah Ferguson, the current live-in ex-wife of tawdry Prince Andrew, taking her cue from the failed princess in a bid to become the next royal Instagram Queen?
Here are some of the ways Sarah seems to be coping Meghan’s example as she hits the 500k follower mark.
Royal Family News: Sarah Ferguson the New Meghan?
Sarah the Duchess of York has a new bodice ripper out, A Most Intriguing Lady, which has necessitated her appearance on the PR circuit and sprucing up her social media game.
One look at her Insta reveals glam shots of herself plus plenty of photos depicting the idyllic British image of afternoon teas sipped in pastoral homes, an image she is said to be purposely cultivating in a bid to win fans.
PR expert Adeline St. John thinks that Sarah has tailored her online presence to appeal to both “her loyal online fanbase” as well as newbies who enjoy reading her books.

Adeline thinks that Sarah looked to Sussex Royal for Instagram inspiration as Meghan and Harry’s account featured “professional images of themselves.” Sarah is also featuring adorable pics of her daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie when they were younger—tugging at heartstrings maybe?
Adeline also notes that Sarah gave her Insta an overhaul in February, starting with a new bio: “Mum, Granny, Bestselling Author, Creative Founder at Sarah’s Trust.”
The PR guru stated that, “Introducing her family roles in her bio indicates to her audience that she always puts family first. Nowadays, we see social media users favouring ‘real’ content and genuine personalities. The odd image of her family, and this foremost impression of a ‘mum’ and ‘granny’ helps to reinforce that there is a real human at the heart of her account.”
Royal Family News: Sarah Making Changes
Sarah is also copying Meghan’s past color example by hewing to a single shade: “The green colour scheme fits with her profile’s Regency theme, and extends to the linktree in her bio, her Twitter and Facebook pages, and also the promotional material for her book,” whereas Meghan preferred blue.
Tell us royal fans, do you think that Sarah learned a thing or two from Meghan on how to establish her online authority?
