Royal Family News: Sarah Ferguson Successfully Treated For Breast Cancer, Discharged Today

British royal family news reports that Sarah Ferguson is recovering at home in Windsor with her family after a successful procedure to treat breast cancer.

She is the ex-wife of Prince Andrew and together they have two daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.

Today Sarah was discharged from the King Edward VII hospital in London, with her spokesperson saying that her diagnosis came after a routine mammogram in which the disease was detected early.

Sarah the Duchess of York is recuperating at Royal Lodge a residence she shares with Andrew.

According to the Daily Mail, one member of her inner circle stated “It’s been a difficult time but she is very grateful to the medical staff who carried out the mammogram and the medical staff who looked after her these last few days, she is incredibly thankful.”

Her spokesperson noted that the Duchess of York is “thankful to the staff involved in the mammogram which identified her illness, which was otherwise symptom free, and believes her experience underlines the importance of regular screening.”

Royal Ascot took place this week with several royals in attendance. Sarah is a patron of the Teenage Cancer Trust but she was not at the races as she was being treated in the hospital.

On Sunday Beatrice was seen at the Glastonbury music festival, and she was at Royal Ascot earlier in the week. Beatrice was spotted with her husband Edo Mapelli Mozzi on the last day of the festival and Elton John will close the event as the headline act. Sarah’s daughter was attired in a long sleeved black top, black skirt, white tennis shoes and had on a pink festival wristband.

It is expected that Sarah will address her condition on her Monday episode of her podcast ‘Tea Talks with the Duchess and Sarah.’

Sarah once described herself and Andrew as “the happiest divorced couple we know.” They live together at Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park, and the couple continue to vacation together with their daughters Beatrice and Eugenie and their respective families.
