They have sent personal letters of apology to Prince William, Prince Harry, and other royals over disgraced reporter Martin Bashir’s false evidence presented to persuade Diana to give him a 1995 Panorama interview.

Royal Family News – BBC Admits Responsibility

Both of Diana’s sons, Prince William the Duke of Cambridge and Harry the Duke of Sussex, have reportedly received letters from the BBC apologizing for Bashir’s conduct and a subsequent cover-up. The acknowledgment of wrongdoing comes 25 years after the infamous interview in which Diana called her husband Charles unfit to be king and admitted that they both had had affairs.

It is also reported that Buckingham Palace and Prince Charles received apology letters.

On May 20 the princess’s brother Earl Spencer spoke on a Panorama special about the scandal. In it, he linked his sister’s death to the BBC. She died in a car accident in 1997.

His claim comes after a judge ruled that the disgraced journalist tricked the princess with faked papers and accounts of misconduct in order to get her to agree to a tell-all interview.

Bashir faked bank statements to secure his interview with Princess Diana then covered up his deceitful actions. His Panorama interview earned multiple awards but after the bombshell aired Queen Elizabeth demanded that Diana and Prince Charles divorced.

Earl Spencer appeared on a special titled Princess Diana, Martin Bashir, and the BBC which dissected the Bashir scandal.

He is heard saying, “The irony is I met Martin Bashir on the 31st of August 1995, because exactly two years later she died. And I do draw a line between the two events. It’s quite clear from the introduction that I sat in on the 19th of September 1995 everyone was going to be made untrustworthy, and I think that Diana did lose trust in really key people.”

He added, “She didn’t know who to trust and in the end, when she died two years later, she was without any form of real protection.”

The BBC is returning all awards the explosive interview amassed and last week Bashir announced he was stepping down from his role as the BBC News religion editor on health grounds.

Di knew what she was doing. At least she had the IQ to regret it afterward unlike Harry.
