Royal Family News: Sophie Countess Of Wessex’s Day Went To The Dogs And She Loved It

Sophie Countess Of Wessex’British royal family news shows that Sophie Wessex’s day went to the dogs when she visited a Guide Dogs center in Reading today. The Countess is married to Queen Elizabeth’s youngest son and they have two children: Lady Louise, 18, and James, Viscount Severn, 14.

As Sophie toured the Guide Dogs Reading Hub Facility she was met with licks and wags, and met up with some of the kids they help. The center promotes the use of buddy dogs, which are different than guide dogs. The dogs help children who have vision loss develop by bolstering their self-confidence and encourage activity. The pups are allowed where a normal pet would be, including schools. Their main purpose is to enhance the confidence of their young friends who experience sight loss and to help them grow a greater sense of independence, self-confidence and trust.

Sophie looked smart in a green skirt and a pair of heeled black velvet boots. She paired her skirt with a black turtleneck under a black jacket and her blond hair was pulled back in a neat bun. Showing off her natural beauty, Sophie wore a natural makeup palette which included glittery eyeshadow and rosy lipstick and pink nail polish. While at the center she read with little girls who were decked out in costume ahead of World Book Day, which is tomorrow.

During her visit, Sophie met some of the buddy dogs owned by Guide Dogs; these canines are not used as mobility aids or sighted assistance. The dogs took a shine to Sophie, and one who had a lustrous black coat gave her a friendly lick. Meanwhile she made friends with a blonde dog who sidled up to her; she rewarded him with an ear scratch.

Elsewhere Sophie helped out by making handprints of dog paws in clay to commemorate the center’s opening, and she made a handprint of her own hand as well.

During her visit, Sophie also interacted with some of the children who are lucky enough to work with Guide Dogs. In particular she talked Everly, five, who was wearing a Spiderman costume over a sparkly skirt and cute green glasses that matched Sophie’s skirt and together they read out loud.
