It has been a trying year for Her Majesty. Between the coronavirus pandemic and her insolent grandson Prince Harry, she has endured a testy year punctuated by the hospitalization of her beloved 99-year old husband Prince Philip.

Up until today she has conducted video calls in 2021 and her visit today is the first time she has been seen in public since December, when she welcomed back the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge after a train of the UK during which they thanked essential workers.

Last October marked her last official in-person public duty when she visited the Defence Laboratory at Porton Down with her grandson Prince William.

Today’s visit is the first time she has been seen since Harry and Meghan Markle’s jaw dropping Oprah Winfrey interview which aired March 7.

And perhaps not coincidently, today also marks the first anniversary of Megxit, the Markle’s stinky and unwanted gift that keeps on giving. With Megxit Harry and Meghan officially abandoned his family and country and they walked away from royal duties.

Today all of the drama wrought by her diva grandson seemed light years away as the queen chatted to an Australian serviceman about his work with Typhoon jets. At one point she amusingly asked if they were, “being sent off to chase the Russians?” and she was told, “That’s correct, ma’am, it’s a lot of fun for us!”

The Queen publicized the fact that both she and Philip received their Covid vaccines in January and during her visit she did not wear a face mask.

She looked springtime lovely in a bright outfit that included an ivory colored Angela Kelly dress, a green coat and matching hat decorated with flowers that resembled Easter eggs.

In keeping with her visit she also wore an Australian wattle brooch given to her on her first tour of the country in 1954.
