Royal Family News: Star From The Crown Tells Royals Not To Be Frightened Of Season 5

Royal Family news reveals that actress Olivia Williams who portrays Camilla Parker-Bowles on the Netflix series The Crown, noted recently that the show is more about the crown itself than specific members of the Royal Family. Read on and we’ll tell you why she says the family has nothing to fear but fear itself.

Royal Family News – Despite Doubts, Royals Need Not Worry

Royal Family news reveals, according to Radio Times, the newly minted fifth season of The Crown has taken hits in recent weeks with both John Major and Judi Dench slamming the popular series over historical inaccuracies. One concern they voiced was over reports that scenes in the show would depict Charles (Dominic West) meeting with John Major (Jonny Lee Miller) to scheme on forcing the Queen to abdicate her throne.

Olivia Williams, however, told Radio Times ahead of season five, that the Royal family needn’t be frightened about the upcoming season as the show is chiefly about the crown rather than individual members of The Firm.

The Crown Is About The Crown

“I think what’s very exciting about the season and a show that’s had this amount of space to mature is that Peter [Morgan] is now writing standalone episodes and he writes an episode that’s about divorce in almost a philosophical way, and how it affects a couple who aren’t in the public eye,” Williams said.

“And I don’t think it’s something that the palace should be frightened of because he’s very careful to always turn these events back to how they affect the crown. The series is called The Crown, not Charles or Diana or the Queen. It’s about the crown. And so, I think it’s both interesting and philosophical and relevant to that.”

The Crown Creator Sympathizes

Season 5 of The Crown is expected to depict events surrounding the Royal Family throughout the 1990s. This means it will most certainly cover the dissolution of then-Prince Charles’s marriage to Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki).

Williams’ input falls in the same line of reasoning as statements made by the show’s creator Peter Morgan who, according to Variety AU, said recently that while the new season will include some “painful memories” for King Charles III, “that doesn’t mean that, with the benefit of hindsight, history will be unkind to him, or the monarchy.”

He added that The Crown isn’t unkind to Charles, saying, “I have enormous sympathy for a man in his position — indeed, a family in their position. People are more understanding and compassionate than we expect sometimes.”
