Maria Borrallo has minded the kids as a live-in nanny since 2014. She will remain with the family but live separately.
Royal Family News: The Kids Will Be All Right
The family is moving into a, “Grade II-listed property, called Adelaide Cottage,” according to Marie Claire. The move, “will mark a significant change from the family’s previous residence — the 20-room Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace.”
Aside from a considerable downsizing, the Telegraph reports that the children will be without a fulltime nanny. Curiously, the physical downsizing comes at a time when the couple are supersizing their royal roles.
Royal Family News – The Cambridge Family Is Moving
Borrallo is a Norland-trained nanny and joined the household when Prince George was eight months old. Her role extends beyond the home and she can be seen with the family at royal events and has accompanied them on holidays.
Apparently the family will retain a Kensington Palace cook and housekeeper who will both work for the family, but live elsewhere.
It’s been reported that Kate and William, “are making the move in order to give their kids the most normal upbringing possible. The relatively modest cottage is surrounded by the highly secure Windsor estate. This will allow the family far more privacy than at Kensington Palace, which borders a high street and the Kensington Palace Gardens.”
The move will also put the family much closer to Kate’s parents, Michael and Carole Middleton who have played an active role in the children’s lives.
Royal Family News – The Cambridge Family Is Making Big Changes
As a part of the change, all three children will begin a new school in September, a Berkshire prep school. The move puts the couple a mere 10-minute drive away from the queen, and they have taken on more royal responsibilities in the last two years with the shelving of disgraced Prince Andrew, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
