Royal Family News: The Prospect Of Prince Charles In Charge Has Some Experts Cringing

British royal family news reveals that yesterday Prince Charles and Prince William opened up Parliament in lieu of Queen Elizabeth. She reportedly was too ill to attend and gave the responsibility to her son and grandson, her immediate heirs.

For his part Prince Charles was in the lead but photographed looking lost while he stared at the queen’s crown which was seated next to him in its own chair, atop a cushion. It is this sense of forlornness that have some questioning Charles’ fitness and wishing for William to leapfrog him onto the throne.

Now one royal watcher predicts that the monarchy, “will come under extreme crisis after Queen death.”

Royal Family News – Will Charles Be in Charge?

Speaking on Jeremy Vine, Republic member Graham Smith said that Prince Charles and William are not “equipped” to take over for Her Majesty.

Smith said, “I think debate now is what happens after the Queen’s reign. You know, she is 96, we are going to be faced with a succession in the next few years.”

He added, “I think the problem that the royals have is that the Queen is the monarchy, the monarchy is the Queen or most people, and for as long as I have been talking about this issue, people have said, you know, I like the Queen but not so much the rest of them.”

YouGov popularity polls show that the queen is the most respected member of the royal family with Andrew, Harry and Meghan ranking at the bottom. “I think, this week, we are seeing in the polling, a slow puncture in the support for the monarchy and that will start to speed up when the Queen isn’t there,” Smith said. “She is the one that people like and respect. She’s the connection with the bygone era, she represents that monarchy that people remember from the 1950s and 1940s and so on. Charles and William don’t do that.”

Royal Family News – Will The Monarchy Be Abolished?

To be fair, Smith is the head of Republic, a group that wishes to abolish the monarchy. He has repeatedly spoken out in favor of chopping the monarchy from the landscape. He added of her direct heirs, “The thing that they do, that the Queen hasn’t done, is that they speak a whole range of issues and every time they do that, they divide opinion and put people off, in one way or another.”

The Republic activist concluded, “I don’t think Charles or William are equipped to turn around that drop in polling.”
