Glamorous Kate is a mother of three adorable kids, one of whom will one day be King. But back in the day this humble princess was just like normal folk, working for a living in a series of not so glam jobs, including toiling as a deckhand.

One of Kate’s first jobs was as a deckhand at the Ocean Village Marina in Southampton. Good To Know describes it as a, “incredibly hands-on and reportedly low-paid role.”

Cal Tomlinson was a skipper at the marina while Katie was employed for four months. He told royal author Katie Nicholl that Kate had a job that, “was back-breaking work. Kate mucked in and was very professional. She fitted right in, although she did stand out for being so pretty. She spoke well, she was very attractive, and she an air about her. She was competent and confident but very unassuming.”

He added of the nations beloved princess: “She was polite and respectful to whoever was in charge of her and neat as a pin. She was never wore any make-up; she was naturally beautiful.”

Royal Family News – Kate’s Varied Resume

Later Kate did some waitressing work while a student at St. Andrew’s University. While talking in 2019 with culinary host Mary Berry Kate told her, “[This] Reminds me of my university days when I did a bit of waitressing.” Mary asked if she was good at the job, and Kate laughed and said, “No, I was terrible!”

After graduating in 2006 Kate went to work as an accessory buyer for the high street fashion brand Jigsaw. After one year there she left to work as a website designer and photographer for the company her parents run, Party Pieces.

Kate’s brother and sister also worked for the family business at some point and Kate left Party Pieces in 2011 following her engagement to Prince William. At the time it was announced that Kate would “concentrate full-time on preparing to become a member of the royal family,” a job she has aced.
