Yet one royal expert thinks there is nothing Prince Harry can do to earn the scorn of the UK’s longest reigning monarch. According to royal insider Katie Nicholl, the bond between Harry and Queen Elizabeth is not going anywhere and was forged in the fire of tragedy.

Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight that, “Harry is in touch with his father the Prince of Wales and he is in quite regular contact with the Queen. She is always delighted to see [great-grandson] Archie on video calls and it is very important to her that she touches base with Harry. She is in touch with them, she knows what is going on in their lives, they discuss their plans with her. Harry has always seen his grandmother as a mentor.”

Despite his bratty rants during the Oprah side show, she thinks that Harry would be welcomed back into the royal fold if he chooses to forego his “financial freedom” and woke Cali lifestyle. She’s not alone in this way of thinking. Royal expert Andrew Morton told Vanity Fair that, “the door is always open for Harry to return to the royal fold. She will have a lot of empathy and sympathy for him.”

He has talked about the queen’s support after his mother’s death and perhaps that support has developed into an unshakeable bond? He told Newsweek, “My mother had just died, and I had to walk a long way behind her coffin, surrounded by thousands of people watching me while millions more did on television. I don’t think any child should be asked to do that, under any circumstances.”

Likewise, royal watcher Tina Brown said that Queen Elizabeth did everything she could to protect Harry. “The Queen was adamant that her place was at Balmoral with her grieving grandsons. Everyone rallied around the young princes. This was the first time in a long reign that the Queen was thinking about her family before her people. We should admire her for that. Her thoughts were with her grandchildren and she wasn’t thinking about how this would be played out in the media.”
