Royal Family News: This Is Where Queen Elizabeth Will Be Buried, How To Pay RespectsBritish royal family news divulges that Queen Elizabeth’s funeral will be held Monday, September 19 at Westminster Abbey. Following her funeral there will be a committal ceremony at St. George’s Chapel on the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Her son and heir, King Charles III, is expected to join the procession in the castle Quadrangle before the coffin is taken to the chapel for the service.

Authorities are advising that ahead of the committal service mourners may lay floral tributes at Cambridge Gate on the Long Walk.

Royal Family News – Queen Elizabeth Has Died

The area has seen thousands of royal fans descend on the are to pay their final respects and to remember the only monarch that the majority of Britons have known. In light of this, Thames Valley Police have provided advice about travelling to during the lead-up to the committal and on the day itself.

According to the Daily Mail, “During the period of national mourning, police presence has been ramped up in the Berkshire town, with a number of security measures being put in place. This includes a visible increase in the number of police horses being used, as well as armed officers and street searches involving dog units.” There will also be an abundance of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras and increased CCTV in the area. Additionally the number of undercover police officers will be increased.

Queen Elizabeth Is Being Mourned

The Royal Family routinely use St. George’s Chapel for family weddings, funerals, and christenings. Prince Philip’s funeral was held there last year. Poignant photos showed the queen sitting all alone in mourning, “after insisting she followed the rules that all Britons were bound to amid the Covid-19 pandemic.”

The Queen’s father King George VI was buried in the Royal Vault of St George’s Chapel after his committal ceremony on February 6 1952.

Tim De Meyer is the Thames Valley Police Assistant Chief Constable, and serves as strategic commander for the force’s response to the queen’s death. He said, “During this very sad time we understand that a lot of people will want to come to Windsor to pay their respects to Her late Majesty, especially as we get closer to the day of her funeral and committal ceremony.”

“Visitors to Windsor will see a larger police presence than normal in the town as we work to ensure that everyone can pay their respects safely and a variety of security measures are in place. ‘Our thoughts remain with the Royal Family.”
