Royal Family News – Many Theories About Princess Diana’s Death

Royal Family news reveals that the second episode of Channel 4’s docuseries Investigating Diana: Death in Paris aired Sunday evening. The second installment dug into some of the conspiracy theories that have swirled around the tragic car crash in Paris’ Pont de l’Alma tunnel that claimed the lives of Princess Di and her partner Dodi Al-Fayed back in 1997.

Express Uk reports that a popular theory at the time of the accident was spearheaded by the father of Diana’s then-boyfriend Dodi Al-Fayed. Contrary to the running narrative, Mohammed Al-Fayed believed that Diana and his son had been murdered.

Was Princess Diana Murdered?

Al-Fayed believed his son and Princess Diana had been murdered because the pair were planning on marrying. Further, he claimed that Diana was pregnant at the time of the fatal car crash.

Princess Diana, Dodi Al-Fayed, and the driver, Henri Paul, all died from injuries they sustained in the crash. Trevor Rees-Jones, the princess’s bodyguard, was the only survivor according to The Daily Beast. Almost immediately following the accident that took Diana’s life, conspiracy theories began to emerge.

Theories Called Far-Fetched

Some believed that the deaths of Diana and Dodi were perpetrated by a gang of paparazzi while still others believed that the pair had been the target of a secret service “hit job” ordered by senior royals. These theories continued despite two official verdicts – one in 1999 and the other in 2008 – both concluding that the Ritz driver Henri Paul, who happened to be under the influence of both alcohol and prescription drugs at the time of the incident, was responsible for the deaths.

Brigade Criminelle investigator Eric Gigou who participated in the initial French-led investigation, told Channel 4 documentary cameras that investigators could not spend time trying to dismantle what he called “far-fetched” theories.

Investigators Still Seek Testimony from Fiat Uno Driver

“The Brigade Criminelle is a special unit charged with handling complex cases.” Gigou said, adding, “We’re not going to lower ourselves to dismantling conspiracy theories each more far-fetched than the other. All to satisfy the rather misplaced curiosity of a certain part of the public.

However, Gigou also revealed that he still has one unanswered question from the case, saying, “In my mind, the only door that remains open is the testimony of the driver of the Fiat Uno.”

Fabrice Cuvillier, an associate of Gigou, added “This Fiat Uno exists, that’s for sure. It’s not a hallucination. It’s not some fantasy.

“It’s not something we threw out to create a diversion. It exits. We didn’t find this Fiat. But it would be dishonest of me to look you in the eye and say: ‘We didn’t let the Fiat slip through.’ I don’t think so, but I’m not 100 percent sure.”
