Royal Family News: Why Camilla Will Remain In The Shadows When Prince Charles Becomes King?

British royal family news shows that assuming Prince Charles becomes King, his wife the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla Parker-Bowles will not make her presence overtly known. Camilla has been a lightning rod for those who think she destroyed Charles’ first marriage to Princess Diana and apparently they both loathe to call more attention to themselves.

According to Clive Irving, Camilla, “will be very careful to stay in the background,” if and when her husband ascends the throne because some royal fans think she is the “Diana destroyer.”

Irving has a book coming out titled, The Last Queen: Elizabeth II’s Seventy-Year Battle to Save the House of Windsor. He told the Express that Camilla Parker-Bowles‘ past as a minxy mistress has not faded into the background and to this day is an issue for some royal fans, who see her as the party at fault—even though Charles had to do the tango with her.

The issue has become topical again as Netflix’s series The Crown is portraying the dynamic between the three. After unflattering portrayals, the Duchess of Cornwall faced online hate.

Angry viewers have posted bullying tweets to the Duchess on the Royal Family’s social media which resulted in the comments being turned off.

Comments show that many accept the fake storylines as historical facts including the incorrect assertion that Prince Charles and Camilla conducted an affair throughout the Prince’s entire relationship with Diana.

Is Netflix’s The Crown fact or fiction?

Following Camilla and Prince Charles’ marriage in 2005, Clarence House said Camilla will be known as HRH The Princess Consort when The Prince of Wales accedes to the throne.

Clive believes that Camilla will make a concerted effort to, “stay in the background. Camilla’s problem is the whole history of the relationship and the fact that she was seen as the Diana destroyer.”

“That’s the burden that she will carry. I think the Queen at one point very much saw her in that light. She was very distressed about Camilla being the one who was undermining the marriage of the Waleses.”

Nonetheless, the Queen showed her support for Camilla in 2016 when she made her a member of the Privy Council which is her most senior advisory body. This shows her opinion of her daughter-in-law is high and enables Camilla to be in the room when Charles is proclaimed King.
