Royal Family News: Why Did King Charles “Hide” At Sunday Easter Service?

British royal family news divulges that on Sunday King Charles and his extended family celebrated their first Easter without their long reigning monarch Queen Elizabeth.

All eyes were on the clan as they celebrated the holiday by attending a church service. What’s the verdict on Charles’ presence? Keep reading to find out what a body language expert had to say about his appearance.

Judi James is a body language expert who has analyzed the royals’ public behavior for years. According to her, Charles seemed anxious and nervous as he entered the church.

Royal Family News: Was Charles Anxious?

James told the Mirror: “The tension was visible in Charles’s body language as he led the royals to their Easter service for the first time since his mother’s death. With his brows steepled in the part frown, he shoved one hand into his jacket pocket as though having a desire to hide away.”

Why would Charles be nervous? For one thing his pokey son Prince Harry seems to be holding the May 6 coronation service hostage. Harry and Meghan have told the world they are invited to the crowning ceremony, but refuse to say if they intend to go.

Royal Family News: Easter Sunday Was Resplendent

Even if Charles was a bit unsure of himself, he and his family looked aces as they wore coordinating shades of blue on the bright spring morning.

Several royals were spotted at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor including Prince William, his wife Kate Middleton and their children Louis, Charlotte and George. William’s cousin and her family, Zara Tindall, husband Mike and their daughters Mia and Lena, were also there.

In contrast to uptight Charles, James thought the group appeared in a “more relaxed, celebratory Easter mood.”

Of the Wales family she noted, “In a very telling move in terms of family hierarchy and just plain old growing up, it was George who walked ahead alone at the front of his family to lead them in, while William walked behind holding Charlotte’s hand and Kate holding onto Louis.”

Louis made a name for himself at the queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June, launching a million memes with his adorable antics. The public is clearly enamored with the youngest Wales child: “There seemed to be a sudden ripple of warm applause for Kate and Louis, with many fans probably remembering his playfulness at the Jubilee and keen to praise his much more serious and well-behaved body language here.”
