Royal Family News: Why Did Prince Harry And Chelsy Davy Break Up?

In his court case against the Mirror Newspaper Group, Harry claims that he and his ex Chelsy were constantly harassed by the media and in some instances, their privacy was invaded too as Harry believes that his phone was hacked.

Recalling some of the tabloid headlines that he saw during the time of his relationship with Chelsy, Harry told the courtroom, “It reported that Chelsy and I had a ‘secret meeting’ where I had ‘begged her for a second chance.’ These kinds of articles made me feel as though my relationship with Chelsy was always set to be doomed.”

Yet, one royal critic by the name of Mark Dolan believes that Harry’s relationship with Chelsy was doomed, regardless of whether or not the media had interfered with it.

Dolan put it this way, “The world’s least happy millionaire is moaning about his life. He’s blaming the media for his relationship not working out, I think the relationship didn’t work because he’s just an annoying numpty.”

Back in 2016, Chelsy told the Daily Mail that being Harry’s girlfriend felt crazy, scary and unfortunately all at the same time. That’s why she knew she couldn’t become his wife. She said, “I found it very difficult when it was bad. I couldn’t cope. I was trying to be a normal kid and it was horrible. It was nuts. That’s also why I wanted to go back to Africa.”

What’s Next For Chelsy Davy?

Chelsea also said that one of the reasons why she knew she couldn’t take the next step in her relationship with Harry is because of all the immense pressure that she already felt being his girlfriend. Being his royal wife could have easily sent her over the edge, just like it did for Meghan Markle.

And while Chelsy might have seen all of the signs before she did, Meghan Markle said in 2021 that when she met Harry, she simply didn’t understand what ‘royal’ work entailed. She told Oprah, “I didn’t fully understand what the job was: What does it mean to be a working royal? What do you do? What does that mean? He [Harry] and I were very aligned on our cause-driven work, that was part of our initial connection.”
