British royal family news shows that Prince William and Kate Middleton are not the middle aged royal couple associated with all the dumpster fire drama, that would be the Markle’s of LA. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have kept it classy and are raising their kids to be respectful of their elders.
But there has been bruhaha this week over a habit that the parents of the three youngsters have been flaunting in Queen Elizabeth’s face. Reportedly she has put her foot down and said, ‘no more!’
What is this all about? Keep reading to find out how Kate and William curried disfavor with the monarch.
The Cambridge Family Uses Helicopters
The whole tiff centers on the Cambridge family routinely using a helicopter to get back and forth from their country home Anmer Hall, to Kensington Palace in London. Apparently the queen has made it known that she does not approve of the, “Cambridges flying as a family unit so frequently for safety reasons, and they just “defied” her orders and did so anyway for a quick vacation. So now the Queen is “summoning” William and Kate to the palace for an awk chat,” so says Harper’s Bazaar. Oh my.
Did Kate Middleton And Prince William Break Protocol?
In reality the queen has logic on her side, this is no idle rant about the cost of gas or carbon footprints. According to the outlet, “there’s actually some royal protocol—about who can fly with whomst and at what age—that will make it literally impossible for George to fly with William in just a few years.”
What is this all about? Well, there is a protective measure in place that disallows two or more heirs to the throne to travel together in order to safeguard the monarchy. It is much like the tradition that the President and Vice President of the United States do not travel on the same plane.
The Express reports that Queen Elizabeth can override the rule and she has done so for Prince George in the past. But, according to the outlet, once “Prince George turns 12, the Queen can no longer override protocol, and he and Prince William literally won’t be able to travel in a plane together—no exceptions.”
In case you’re wondering, this is also true for William and his father and heir to the throne Prince Charles. The two men travel separately, and Charles and his mother the Queen travel separately as well.

The Royals Travel Separately
Royal expert Neil Sean said that after the Cambridges were seen boarding a helicopter with their kids this week, after the Queen told them to cut back, “When Prince William and Catherine return back from their short break, they will be summoned to Windsor to explain the cause of their actions.”
